Tracking skills and application This booklet has two main purposes to help learners track their skills in ICTs to help learners set personal goals for improving their ICT skills. Learners begin by identifying what their skill levels are (Constructivism). They then consider what they would like to do and plan their ICT learning accordingly.

What do I already know? (constructivism) Learners show their skill level in each section with the date. Novice means that they know very little about the program/skill Learner means that they are learning how to use the program/acquire the skill Advanced learner means that they are confident with the program/skill This recognises that we all acquire skills along this same continuum.

How can I demonstrate my learning? Students are cognizant of what evidence they must produce to demonstrate their skill level and identify if they are novices, learners or advanced learners.

Setting learning goals Students must set themselves at least three learning goals. DateLearning Goals 30/5/02 I want to make a web page showing the information from my learning unit on ‘Rocks’. When it’s finished I want to put it on our school website. I’ve chosen the skills I want to concentrate on and highlighted them on the web publishing section.

Embedding the learning To embed the learning, learners are advised: Using a tracking book, such as this one, empowers learners to take responsibility for their own learning.
