Frederick McKinley Jones Invented: Refrigeration systems -Frederick Jones made more than sixty inventions, however, he is best known for inventing an automatic refrigeration system. Jones was the first person to invent a practical, mechanical refrigeration system for trucks and railroad cars, which eliminated the risk of food spoilage during long- distance shipping trips. Frederick Jones was issued the patent on July 12, 1940.

Lewis Latimer Invented: Long life lightbulb -Latimer devised a way of encasing the filament within an cardboard envelope which prevented the carbon from breaking and thereby provided a much longer life to the bulb and hence made the bulbs less expensive and more efficient. This enabled electric lighting to be installed within homes and throughout streets.

Dr. Patricia Bath Dr. Patricia Bath was the first African American woman doctor to receive a patent for a medical invention. Patricia Bath’s discovered a method for removing cataract lenses, transformed eye surgery, using a laser device making the procedure more accurate. Bath was able to restore sight to people who had been blind for over 30 years. Invented: A form of eye surgery using lasers

Ellen Ochoa -Ellen co-invented an optical system that can detect imperfections in repeating patterns. Patented in 1987, its uses include quality control in the manufacturer of highly intricate parts. Dr. Ochoa also shared a patent as a co- inventor on an optical system that can be used in robotically making products, as well as a system that helps to remove unwanted visual information in images.

Dr. Jose Hernandez-Rebollar  Dr. José Hernandez- Rebollar, a young scientist making a reputation as an innovator on a mission. He worked at the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics, and Electronics, where he was involved in building the antenna control systems for what was to become the largest telescope in the world.

Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena  Guillermo González Camarena was a Mexican engineer born in Guadalajara, Mexico in February, 1917. As a young boy, Camarena made electrically propelled toys and by the age of twelve had built his first amateur radio. Camarena built his own telescope during this time and became a regular member of the Astronomical Society of Mexico.
