2.  Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun.  It is made up of gas.  Therefore, it is a gas giant.

3.  Jupiter is the largest planet by far.  It is bigger than all the other planets combined.  Jupiter weighs 1,898,130,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kilograms.

4.  Many missions have been sent to Jupiter.  The Pioneer 10 and 11 were sent to Jupiter.  The Voyager 1 and 2 were also sent to Jupiter.  The latest mission to Jupiter was the Galileo.

5.  Jupiter was discovered many years ago.  It was known even back in ancient times!

6.  Jupiter has a huge red spot.  This red spot is a high pressure storm.  It has been there for at least 400 years.  Three earths would fit inside of just the red spot!

7.  Jupiter is different from the other planets.  Jupiter gives off more energy than it receives from the sun.  No other planet does that!

8.  Not all planets have moons.  Jupiter, however, has many moons..  Although Jupiter only has four main moons, it has 63 confirmed moons.

9.  Jupiter rotates faster than Earth.  Jupiter’s period of rotation is 0.41354 of Earth’s rotation.  Jupiter’s revolution takes longer than Earth.  Jupiter’s revolution is 11.862615 of Earth years.

10.  Jupiter is tilted on its axis.  The tilt of Jupiter’s axis is 3.13 degrees.

11.  Jupiter is a massive planet.  It’s diameter is 11 times Earth’s diameter.  It’s mass is 1.9 times 1027 kilograms.

12.  Jupiter should be president over the other planets because it is bigger.  It is the big brother of all the planets so it should be in charge.
