Points to Ponder – Big Ideas How can imagery suggest meaning and help define who I am? What imagery, objects, animals, or pictures will best represent my Metaphorical Self Portrait? How can medium effect the overall understanding of an artwork? How can I use imagery and metaphor to visually define who I am?

16 x 20 Deadline, Critique, Self-Evaluation, and Artist Statement: 11/7 END of class – online critique over weekend via Twitter. I will collect sketchbooks Monday 11/10. Sketchbook Assignment: 1.Self reflection + Artist Statement on Metaphorical Self Portrait Project – approx. 100 words 2.Select two social issues that you feel strongly about. Find 1 newspaper/online article over each issue. Imbed the article into your sketchbook (tape, glue) and summarize each article, ≥40 words per article. Include your opinions. 3.Begin to sketch/plan/collage visuals related to ONE of the two social issues. This will be used for the Social Commentary Project.
