Zero and Negative EXPONENTS
2
A nonzero number to the zero power is 1: Basically that means: ANYTHING RAISED TO THE ZERO POWER (EXCEPT ZER0) IS 1!!!! A nonzero number to the zero power is 1: Basically that means: ANYTHING RAISED TO THE ZERO POWER (EXCEPT ZER0) IS 1!!!!
3
We can not have negative exponents, so we have two rules dealing with negatives!!
4
Negative Exponents 1 st Negative Exponent Rule: is just the reciprocal of And when we do the reciprocal, there will not be a negative in the denominator. 1 st Negative Exponent Rule: is just the reciprocal of And when we do the reciprocal, there will not be a negative in the denominator. 1 st Negative Exponent Rule: is just the reciprocal of And when we do the reciprocal, there will not be a negative in the denominator. 1 st Negative Exponent Rule: is just the reciprocal of And when we do the reciprocal, there will not be a negative in the denominator. 1 st Negative Exponent Rule: is just the reciprocal of And when we do the reciprocal, there will not be a negative in the denominator. 1 st Negative Exponent Rule: is just the reciprocal of And when we do the reciprocal, there will not be a negative in the denominator.

Let’s Try Some Examples!! 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. = = = = = =
6
Negative Exponents 2 nd Negative Exponent Rule You do not want a negative exponent in the denominator.
7
Try these !! 1. 2. 3. 4. = = = = =

Now lets put it all together!!
