Is a social enterprise that aims to create added value in the life of refugees in crises situations Core of our program: Social Integration Self sufficiency Production of ONE-OF unique hand made Interior products exclusively designed by Design Academy students in a constantly renewing collection. Our entire product collection is produced by refugees in crises situations from second hand left over materials.

Point Of Sale Event based sales point. Once a month Emmaus is open for a special sale on Sunday. the transformed Emmaus doors are open to the public to take part in a designed experience featured by the refugees and the DA students. Twice a year bigger sales event are taking place on the Design Week and on Queens Day.

Organization Collaboration of Design Academy and Emmaus 1 DA teacher which is also the professional guide of the workshop – 3 days a week Workshop operates 3 afternoons a week Location: Emmaus/the nun’s building 2 volunteers to run the workshop 10 refugees Changing group of DA students support the project for 1 trimester. Students join the refugees for one afternoon a week.

How do we operate? 1 st step: Design starting points by M&H students. 2 nd step: Workshop is prepared to production according to a few selected techniques. 3 rd step: Refugees get a one week training to learn the different techniques. By volunteers, supervised by the DA teacher. 4 th step: Meeting with group of DA bachelor students that will support the project for one trimester. 5 th step: DA students and teacher define a collection for the next event by elaborating starting points that were defined by M&H students. 6 th step: Start production. Students support refugees for one afternoon a week. 7 th step: Preparing selling event: refugees + students – communication plan, PR, etc. 8 th step: Day of sales. Once a year M&H students refine the strategy and define new starting points.

Finance Initial Investment – NGOs / Foundations e.g. Prince Claus Foundation Paid staff – DA teacher – paid by DAE Materials – From Emmaus – leftovers – free Additional materials – basic cost – covered by sales Refugees are officially volunteers. invests the money it gains in the refugees needs such as groceries, health needs, school fees etc.
