SWBAT… solve multi-step equations Agenda 1. Warm-up (10 min) 2. Review hw#4 (10 min) 3. Questions (10 min) Warm-Up. Correct the quiz problems you missed. It is not necessary to explain in the 3 column format. Just re-do the the problems you got wrong on the back of the quiz. HW#5-Multi-Step Eqns 1st Period, Mon, 10/4/10
2
Write a specific question(s) on anything we have done in class so far: HW#1: Evaluating expressions HW#2: Distributive property HW#3: Two-step equations HW#4: Multi-step equations Quizzes If you don’t have any questions, please write “I do not have any questions, I understand everything we have done in class so far.”
3
SWBAT… solve two step equations Agenda 1. Warm-up (10 min) 2. Review hw#3 (15 min) 3. Quiz (15 min) 4. Grade quiz (5 min) Warm-Up. Solve and check each equation: 1.) 2a – 5 = 7 2.) -4 = 7 – w (if you don’t like the variable on the right, switch the eqn 7 – w = -4) 3.) 4.) HW#3-Multi-Step Eqns / Quiz Corrections 2nd Period, Mon, 10/4/10

SWBAT… solve multi-step equations Agenda 1. Warm-up (10 min) 2. Questions answered from yesterday (5 min) 3. Work on hw#6 (20 min) Warm-Up. 1.) Simplify: -n(-n 4 + 2n 3 – n 2 + 7n – 12) 2.) Solve: -(m + 1) = 11 3.) Solve: -6b + 1 = -3 + 2b 4.) Solve: HW#4-Multi-Step Eqns 1st Period, Tues, 10/5/10
6
Answers to your questions 1. When will you really know if it’s really simplified? 2. When do you use distributive property? 3. Why would you cancel out the variables from the right instead of the left in distributive property. Why not start with the variable in the left? 4. On hw#5, why do I have to cancel the variable on the right side first rather than the left side first?
7
SWBAT… solve multi-step equations Agenda 1. Warm-up (10 min) 2. Review hw#3 (10 min) 3. Work on hw#4 (20 min) Warm-Up. Solve and check each equation: 1.) b – 8b + 1 = -6 (Hint: Step 1: CLT b – 8b) 2.) -(3 + x) = 21 HW#4-Multi-Step Eqns 2nd Period, Tues, 10/5/10

You will be working with the student sitting next to you On the big poster board, solve your equation given Show all work (but you already knew that!) Write out the steps as you solve the problem Select students will present their equation
20
Directions: On your tablets, you will be solving equations. You will have 1-3 minutes to solve each problem (SHOW YOUR WORK – ALL STEPS!) When you hear the timer go off, show me your tablets.
