Suzanne's Talking Points: Mercy Corps has been in Japan as soon as 3 days after struck, building and stocking shelters for evacuees. They also constructed a bathing facility and are currently moving people in to temporary housing. To help Japan rebuild economically, MC is working on a program to present cash or vouchers for people to buy necessities, as well as purchasing vans for vendors to provide these necessities on site. Mercy Corps has implemented Comfort for Kids program, which employs Japanese to reach children who need post- trauma assistance. Our event raised over $500 for Mercy Corps!
