Key points: Drama Units National standards remain the same The Units have been written to feature the best approaches of the current Standard Grade Drama and Intermediate 1 and 2 Drama Units and Course assessment They all have a hierarchical Unit structure that provide progression from National 3 to Higher There is Added Value Unit assessment at National 4 increases personalisation and choice

Unit Structure – example UnitProduction Skills (National 5) Outcome 2 The candidate will apply a range of production skills in drama Assessment Standards 1.Selecting appropriate ideas to develop a performance concept 2.Applying a range of production skills within a production 3.Evaluating their contribution to the drama and that of others

Unit Specifications Evidence Requirements Assessors should use their professional judgement, subject knowledge and experience, and understanding of their learners to determine the most appropriate ways to generate evidence Evidence could be gathered in combination with other Outcomes if possible, either from the Drama Skills Unit or the Production Skills Unit or from a combination of both. Evidence could also be gathered for individual Outcomes where appropriate.

Unit Specifications for Production Skills at National 5 For this Unit learners will be required to provide evidence of Production Skills by: generating ideas for a production concept analysing a range of production roles applying a range of production skills evaluating their own work and that of others The evidence generated from the above will be the body of evidence available for the purpose of internal assessment and verification.

UASPs – key features Valid from August 2013 Designed to encourage professional judgement Provide broad-based tasks – allow assessors to choose appropriate context and forms of evidence Exemplify a range of approaches to generating assessment evidence Give information on the type of evidence which could be gathered and how this is to be judged against Assessment Standards
