Europeans trading with Natives – for mutual benefit. Trade = more then just goods, a meeting of cultures. The Natives had furs, the Europeans had metal pots and knives. The BARTER SYSTEM.

The Europeans – obsessed with beaver pelts. The Natives thought they were a little nuts. Animal fur was more profitable then fish. As a result, fishing was no longer the main economic activity…
