Current Manual Submission of Project Risk Assessments (PRA)
6
Current Manual System - Limitations Handwritten PRA is illegible Incomplete PRA are received by OSHE Lack of attachments for PRA submitted Routing time for approval – “lost in the mail” Unable to have “dashboard” for all risk assessments submitted to OSHE Unable to verify status of approval Reduce Your Administrative Workload so you can concentrate on your research!

Benefits of OPRAS Mr Saravanan Gunaratnam Head (Occupational Safety & Health Management Division), OSHE
9
Benefits to PIs 1.Personalized dashboards showing PRA submissions 2.Allow other project members to submit a risk assessment on PI’s behalf 3.Guided workflow and validation to ensure all required fields are properly filled up upon submission, thus reducing processing time 4.Generate “Word” versions for the project risk assessment.
10
Benefits to PIs 5. Attachments feature – Allows SOPs, inventory lists, SDS to be submitted with the RA. 6. PIs able to track the process of each submission and clarify with the processing officer directly 7. “Copy Function” – Templates of personalized risk assessment can be created

Q & A
23
FAQs
24
FAQ #1 Q: When can I be on the Laboratory OH&S Certification Scheme? A: It is rolled out on a departmental basis, we will liaise with the HODs on proposed implementation timelines
25
FAQ #2 Q: Why do I still need to submit a hard copy? A: For the following reasons: - We have consulted HODs, and they would prefer to sign off on hardcopy version. Routing difficulties associated with Heads as they may hold many email accounts. Legal requirement (MOM) that risk assessments be signed off.
26
FAQ #3 Q: Can my collaborators who are non NUS staff or students use this system? A: No, they would need to apply for a guest account.
27
FAQ #4 Q: How is this system different from that of ORE “SAP - Research Mgt System”? A: ORE system is to manage the grant application process. It would not incorporate approval application process from the clearance offices – OSHE, IACUC, IRB. The clearance offices would update ORE once the clearance offices give approval.
