3
Academic Services Division The approval process http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/quality-manual/taught-programmes/index.htm New proposals: Programmes Business case = advertising, recruitment (process under review) Programme specification = registration Modules Module specification = advertising, enrolment Changes: Programmes and modules some categories of changes may require Academic Board approval Some categories can be approved by Academic Services Division
4
Academic Services Division Modules – one in one out Expectation that new modules will either: –replace an existing module –be an integral part of a new programme. Where neither of the above circumstances exist, the School will need to make a case for the module to be approved citing the significant institutional interests served by the module. Rationale - Curriculum congestion = reduction in student choice and greater staff workload
5
Academic Services Division Module growth Module growth at UK campuses since 2003/04 = 16% Student number growth at UK campuses since 2003/04 = 3%

Academic Services Division HTML formatting in Saturn http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/courses-office/programmes-team/html-guide2.htm SaturnWeb is a web based environment. This means that if you are copying text with formatting such as bold, italics or bullet points from a Word document, this formatting will not show in Saturn. Instead you need to use HTML tags to add this formatting. There are five key tags which I would recommend you use. So tags consist of a left angle bracket ( ). Tags are usually paired to start and end the tag instruction. The end tag looks just like the start tag except that a slash (/) precedes the text within the brackets. Use these tagsTo make text look like or do this SaturnWeb Type text here Puts text into a paragraph Type text here Puts text on a new line bullet point
