1 Objective: Conservation of water, minimizing wastage and ensuring its more equitable distribution both across and within States through integrated water resources development and management. NWM Goals: Comprehensive water data base in public domain and assessment of the impact of climate change on water resources, Promotion of citizen and state actions for water conservation, augmentation and preservation, Focused attention to vulnerable areas including over-exploited areas, Increasing water use efficiency by 20%, and Promotion of basin level integrated water resources management. EFC meeting held on 22.07.2013, recommended (Central Sector) Scheme for Rs.196 for NWM. The Scheme was approved by the Ministry of Finance on 25.10.2013. XII Plan Allocation -1490 Crore. Balance proposal for 1294 Crore once NBWUE is established. National Water Mission(NWM)

2 Implementation of NWM Scheme progress An expenditure of Rs.1.377 crore was incurred during FY 2014- 15. Training and capacity building programmes organized through CWRDM (Kozikhode), NIRD & PR (Hyderabad) and DWM (Bhubaneswar). MoUs have been signed with TISS, NIRD & PR and DWM for training and capacity building of multiple stakeholders.

4 Action Taken Report on decisions taken in previous meetings regarding NWM 1 Undertaking 5 pilot projects in States on water use efficiency and proper utilization of water. Expression of Interest (EoI) has been sought. IFD has given concurrence to the proposal and the same has been approved by Secretary. EoI has been placed on MoWR website. 2 Expenditure during 2014-15 be reassesses and be informed to Dir (PP) The expenditure of Rs. 1.37 crore has been incurred during 2014-15, Reconciled with Dir (PP), MoWR, RD & GR. 3 Preparation of State Specific Annual program under NWM. NWM has proposed a Grant-in-aid of Rs 50.00 lakh to the major States and Rs. 30.00 lakh to the minor States for preparation of State Specific Annual Plans for water sector wrt climate change. The file is under submission. 4 Proposal under NWM may be sought from remaining States. 5Finalization of Cabinet Notes on NBWUE.The draft Cabinet Note on NBWUE is under submission.
