Unit 2 Introduction to Probability Learning Goal: I can identify examples of the use of probability in the media and different ways in which probability is represented (fraction, percent, decimal)
2
What is Probability? Probability is the likelihood an event will occur
3
What are the different ways to show a probability? Fraction: number of ways events can occur divided by number of outcomes Decimal: 0. 25 (score out of 1) Percent: 25% (score out of 100) Fraction Decimal Percent Multiply by 100 Divide numerator by denominator
4
How is probability used in our daily lives? Grab a newspaper (& a coffee!) and find and record as many examples as you can. If you can think of others off the top of your head, add those to the list as well.
