2
What are cochlear implants? Cochlear implants is a surgically implanted electronic device that provides a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or severely hard of hearing.

Cochlear Implants This photo shows exactly where the cochlear implant is put and it also shows the different parts of the cochlear implant.
4
What is bacterial meningitis? Meningitis is a disease caused by the inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain Bacterial meningitis is caused by a bacterial infection in cerebrospinal fluid, located around the brain and spine.
5
Symptoms of Bacterial Meningitis Fever Headache Stiff/achy neck Vomiting Nausea Sensitivity to light
6
Bacterial Meningitis and Cochlear Implants Bacterial meningitis is not caused by having a cochlear implant, but not following up on the surgery can possibly cause bacterial meningitis. If you do follow up after the surgery, than it is unlikely to get bacterial meningitis from having a cochlear implant
7
Possible Vaccinations/ Treatments for Bacterial Meningitis There are really no possible vaccinations for bacterial meningitis. The only thing that could help to not have bacterial meningitis anymore is to take antibiotics to cure it, if it is caught soon enough.
