H EADSHOT … A necessary tool for an actor to get the attention of a casting director.

H EADSHOT 8 X 10 photograph The face should be clearly seen Can be black and white or color Two styles - it is good to have both Commercial Smile Often used for commercials Theatrical Usually more serious, no smile Often used for film, television, and stage

T HREE TYPES OF HEADSHOTS Traditional Head and shoulders Three Quarter Down to the knees Composite Several pictures on one page Postcards and business cards are now tools of the trade.

W HAT TO WEAR Clothing Keep it simple Stay away from bold patterns Choose shirts without logos For color shots, choose colors that compliment your skin Clean and wrinkle free Fit properly Suggestions Gentlemen wear a solid shirt with a collar Ladies wear a collared shirt or flattering neckline Jewelry Avoid anything that distracts from you face Glasses Try pictures with and without glasses

S UGGESTIONS FOR POSING Sit in a chair facing to one side (not quite a right angle) Turn head toward camera and tip it down a little Camera should be at eye level Actor should look at the camera For a traditional headshot The frame should be close to the top of the head The frame should be just below the shoulders The frame should be close on both sides (a little more room on one side than the other)
