1 Nation & 2 Organizations officially recognized as MIC Affiliates
MIC Overview Established: 1999 7 countries with “demonstrated willingness, competence, and capability to lead and/or participate in coalition and/or multinational operations” Affiliates: Nations/Organizations who have established a formal, long-term relationship with MIC, without the same level of commitment, resources, or rights of membership as MIC member nations 1 Nation & 2 Organizations officially recognized as MIC Affiliates

5
MIC Purpose & Objective
An operator-led (J-3) multinational forum Focused on strategic and high operational levels Identifying and addressing interoperability, interagency and comprehensive approach issues that are key to planning and executing coalition operations Information sharing is paramount “the ability to act together coherently, effectively and efficiently to achieve Allied tactical, operational and strategic objectives” OR “the ability to operate in synergy in the execution of assigned tasks”. Influence the development of operational practices to enable more effective coalition operations
6
MIC Efforts Context: Benefits: + international legitimacy
+ burden sharing (manpower & equipment) + political/diplomatic advice + national economic resources + range of equipment, skills and experience Context: Difficulties: - language - understanding - goals and RoE - national interests - equipment and technology - foreign disclosure policies - budget - risk tolerance balancing multinational diversity

16
Take Aways Forum of major military powers aware of the fact that ad hoc coalitions are appropriate answers to todays’ security challenges Dedicated to improving interoperability as a prerequisite for success (discussed and adequately solved) before a coalition is required Proposing the CBG as a tool box to help shaping and support efficient coalitions
