2. Issue… More than 53,000 babies were born to a teenage mother in CA. In 2001, 67% of all teens births in CA. were to Hispanic teens, more than half of 53% of Latinas in the U.S. became pregnant at least once before age 20. Teenage mothers are less likely to finish high school and are more likely to live in poverty, depend in public assistance, and be in poor health than slightly older mothers.

3. Causes…. There is many factors that cause teenage pregnancy peer pressure, absent parents, lack of knowledge, sexual abuse or rape, and culture. Absent parents Lack of knowledge Sexual abuse Culture

4. Effects… Teen pregnancy carries many physical, social, emotional and psychological risks for teen as well as babies. High blood pressure Lack of knowledge Social consequences

5. Solution… Planned Parenthood Teen Success: A group of 10-12 teens mom ages 12-18 who received weekly support group meetings. Maintain family size Complete their high school/vocational school/ GED education Develop life skills that lead to self-sufficiency Proposed: Parents to be involved in this group Learn parenting skill not only for the teen mom, but also for the parents of the teenagers Teach them about cultural barriers
