4. Questions to consider When and where would you need an ID card? What identity do you not have a card for? What does it say about you? Who would not have a right to an ID card? Where would your ID card exclude you from as well as allow you to go?

5. Designing an ID card activity Design an ID card which reflects the geographical and citizenship issues raised in the discussion. Resource pack to stimulate ideas In groups, use materials provided to design a proforma ID card for others to fill in

6. Big Group Discussion What other geography/ citizenship activities could be done before & after designing the ID card? What themes were raised by the groups? How do we deal with controversial issues?

7. Geocitizen Pilot Project Geocitizen award: explore the interdisciplinary links between citizenship and geography Launch of website www.geocitizen.org.uk which will provide school-based activities, citizenship through geography resources and a showcase for pupils' work in learning citizenship through geography.www.geocitizen.org.uk

8. Geocitizen Award What is it? GA-accredited award for pupils work linking geography & citizenship which will be showcased at www.geocitizen.org.ukwww.geocitizen.org.uk The award will link the theme of the CWG workshop at GA Annual conference to a follow up activity to be carried out in schools This years theme: Designing Identity- based on designing an ID card activity Pilot project: get involved and help develop: the direction of the project; the criteria for the award; the activity itself; the format of the work showcased on the website

9. How can my school get involved? 1. Trial the Designing Identity activity with your class. 2. Record the activity including: Brief narrative of the activity Photos of students final piece of work Evidence of students reflection on citizenship through geography issues 3. CWG will then evaluate students work and post examples on the website. 4. Send in evidence by 30 th June to: Geocitizen Project, GA, 160 Solly Street, Sheffield, S1 4BF
