2. Beginning of R&B R&B is one of the top listened to music genres in the world. R&B grew out of jazz music. Jazz music originated out of the Harlem renaissance. Over half today’s are R&B singers. One problem in the R&B industry is people often seem to confuse R&B with pop music but there are a few differences between them.

3. Difference between Pop and R&B Pop music has exited since America’s early years but mainly as parlor songs and minstrel show tunes. Tin Pan Alley, Ragtime, and Broadway music were the earliest forms of American Pop. Pop today has more of an Indie vibe meaning it is more layed back and care free while R&B is more upbeat smooth jazz.
