This portion will demonstrate how to track customers with SimPOS! Retail Point of Sale. You may track a few or all of your customers if you wish. Reasons for tracking customers are: 1. They get discounts or special pricing or non-tax sales. 2. Frequent shopper, garden club, etc. 3. Targeting a given audience for promotions in the future. Click on the slide show button to start the automated presentation.
3
Starting at the Salesperson ID screen, proceed to a new sale.
4
Open the invoice screen as normal.
5
To track customers you need to go to the F1 screen sometime during the sale.
6
To capture a customer, type in the phone number or use the ? Lookup feature.
7
Enter the phone number here with the area code.
8
To search for a customer in the database, type in a portion of their name.
9
By typing in “schm” the program will search for “schm” anywhere in the name.
10
When the search is complete, a list pops up. The list may be long and in that case a scroll bar appears. Choose the customer you want and highlight.
11
We have highlighted my name.
12
Once highlighted, we bring up the information by pressing enter.
13
If we want to edit any customer information EXCEPT PHONE NUMBER AND BACKGROUND INFO, we can use F12
14
Background information can be changed without using F12. All information preceding a ~ (tilde) will print on the information or delivery receipt.
15
Other information can be kept on customers, in this case wanting information or class schedules on pruning, etc. You can store their lawn size and other valuable information so they come to you instead of the boxes to help them. 16
This triggers no tax status. SimPOS! Automatically charges tax with the expiration date is passed.
17
This determines the customer type and all customer related discounts or special pricing.
18
Once you have entered in any or all information in the F1 screen, you simply press F2 to return to the invoice screen.
19
Notice that the customer information is displayed as a reminder.
20
Entering a product now results in the program checking the customer to see if any discounts are appropriate and places them on the screen as fast as you enter the item.
21
In this case since I am an employee, I get 25% off. SimPOS! Checks to see the best price available -- volume, sale, customer type, special pricing.
22
Since I was listed with a tax resale number and date, it doesn’t charge tax.
23
With a customer attached, you can use the in house charge feature to pay for this invoice.
24
Choose Acct for charging.
25
SimPOS! Will bring up those allowed to charge on this customer’s account. You can have “PO Required” as a line item to remind your cashiers.
26
I chose my wife as the person charging. This will appear on the receipt that goes to the office for their information as well as into the database.
27
Once chosen, you may add other info to be captured in the database.
28
Type in the purchase order number or other info here.
29
You are now ready to complete the sale.
32
This completes the attaching customers demonstration You may attach a customer id to a sale in Access at any time. We have developed simple ways to collect the data and not hold up the checkout lines. One of our clients has developed a garden club program which uses ID cards which when scanned put the phone number in the F1 screen. Thanks for watching. Press ESC button to exit program.
