Topics - 30cm x 30cm GEM chamber update: - Foils - Frames, transfer jig - Anode board - Preamp testing - TGEM alternative - Local UTA logistics - MRI
3
First 30cm x 30cm 3M GEM foils - Continuing foil certification - Foils sent to La. Tech. U., U.Victoria, and Changwon U. and about to be sent to U.Washington, Tsinghua U.
4
GEM foil frame transfer/mounting jig
5
- Frames produced at Fermilab on Thermwood - Now have enough frames in hand to make the planned 5 30cm x 30cm GEM chambers FR4 frames for mounting foils
6
Anode board for 30cm x 30cm chamber - Some issues with making the boards – solder-coat application - shorts between some pads – will fix by hand for now. - components are in hand for mounting preamp cards.
7
“Thick-GEM’s” - TGEM’s made by standard drilling of PCB, including removal of O(100µm) around hole to allow higher voltage use. - Now evaluating samples from A.Breskin – Weizman Inst.
8
HV 50M 25M -3000V -2500V -500V 0V Cath. Top Bottom. Pad Thick-GEM operating setup - Use of single TGEM to replace double-GEM may save radial space in active layer.
