Agenda CBR Introduction Your Name’s the Game Walk the Line using the TI-Navigator Topics in Algebra 1 APP – Chapter 3 Assessment and analysis using the TI- Navigator

Using the CBR

Your Name’s the Game! : Using the CBL/CBR APP and moving with or in front of the CBR try to “draw” the first letter of your first name on the screen.

Run the CBL/CBR APP

Choose SET DEFAULTS to run CBR and follow on screen directions Select Ranger

To try again, select 3: Repeat Sample from the Plot Menu Press Enter to begin collecting data and make a graph

Walk the Line Create constant –speed motion plots Today we will have one person walk a line and then we will share that line using the TI-Navigator

Walk the Line Once you have the data in Lists 1 and 2 run the SETDEFLT program by pressing  to see the line we created with the CBR

Walk the Line Develop Linear Equations to describe the plot we created mathematically. Slope-intercept form of a linear equation is Y=MX+B Guess and Check TRACE and use : slope = (y2-y1)/(x2/x1) Linear regression

Other Activities you can do Match a graph to a story or vice versa Feeling Rates of Change

Topics in Algebra 1 Overview : 4 (5) chapters 1Number Sense 2Linear Equations 3Linear Functions 4Linear Ineq: 1 Variable 5Linear Systems

Topics in Algebra 1 Chapter 3 Linear Functions: Slope with Grid Activities Screen Cross Linked Calculators Screen Cross Drawing Line Segments

Soft Keys

Use Arrows on Keypad to Navigate

TI-Navigator TI-Navigator™ is a wireless classroom network that enhances communication between the teacher’s classroom computer and the TI graphing handhelds used by students.

TI-Navigator Components available for free: Learning Check App Learning Check Creator Included in Navigator Purchase Class Connect Class Analysis

Learning Check Make your own electronic assessments students can take on their handhelds Connect your students’ handhelds to your computer with a graph link cable

Learning Check Select the LearnChk APP from the APPS list and take the assessment: Linear Equations and Slope
