This story takes place during the school year. This time period was very important to the story because if it were not the school year, Cap would not be Class President, not have been a punch line, not have had any friends, not have saved a bus driver’s life, and not known what kids are like outside of Garland. The main location of where the story takes place is at Claverage Middle School. This location is important to the story because if he wasn’t at school, the others would not be able to guff at him. He also wouldn’t know what it was like to go to public school and face problems without Rain. He also wouldn’t know any nice kids to count on.

The most important character in the story was Capricorn Anderson. The character’s main goal in the story was to get back to Garland Farm and get Rain out of the hospital. Rain fell out of a tree while picking plums and Cap was sent to a regular home and a regular school (Claverage Middle School) where he knows virtually nothing and no one there. However, social outcast, Hugh Winkleman, becomes a great friend of him. Cap also has to deal with Zach Powers and his gang.

Zach Powers was an important character in the story because he bullied Cap the second he laid his eyes on him.

Hugh Winkleman is an important character in the story because he was Cap’s friend from the get go because he used to be the brunt of all the punch lines. But now, Cap took his position and Hugh gets jealous when Cap gets the spotlight. Then he joined Zach to prank Cap.
