FSEHS FACULTY/STUDENT COMPACT Creating an Environment of Mutual Respect

I Believe in NSU!  3-year partnership with Gallup Corporation  Survey to measure engagement for faculty, staff, administration, students, and alumni  Employee Engagement “a heightened emotional connection that an employee feels for his or her organization, that influences him or her to exert greater discretionary effort to his or her work” (Soldati, 2007, para. 6).  Student Engagement = Attitudinal Loyalty + Emotional Attachment Soldati, P. (2007). Employee engagement: What is it exactly? Retrieved from http://www.management-issues.com/2007/3/8/opinion/employee-engagement-what-exactly-is-it.asp

4 Types of Students  Fully Engaged  “The education and experience I receive from Nova Southeastern is irreplaceable.”  Engaged  “I like the classes and experiences at Nova Southeastern, but I don’t have to get all of my education there.”  Not Engaged  “Just tell me what I have to do to complete the class or graduate.”  Actively Disengaged  “I won’t let my friends ever come to school or take classes from here.” Copyright © 2008 Gallup, Inc. 5 Increasing Engagement  Based on results of the survey, all employee work groups at NSU developed commitment plans  FSEHS faculty wrote four commitment plans, including one for students based on the question:  NSU always treats me with respect.  “Faculty and adjunct faculty will design a professor/student compact which defines roles, responsibilities, expectations, and behaviors reflective of the FSEHS’s philosophy of mutual respect and shared values which exist within our entrepreneurial environment.”

The Faculty/Student Compact

The Compact between Faculty and Students of the Fischler School of Education and Human Services  The Compact between Faculty and Students of the Fischler School of Education and Human Services is a declaration of a continuous commitment to supporting a vibrant community for all educators and students. Respect is one of the fundamental principles that serve to anchor this community in mutual ways.
