Ground Water is freshwater that lies beneath the Earth’s surface. Aquifer is an underground porous rock layer often saturated by very slow water flow.

Wells and Springs tap into groundwater and are important sources of freshwater for many people in rural areas and in some cities.

Most lakes contain freshwater. Biggest freshwater lake in the world is Lake Superior. Freshwater contains less than 1000 milligrams per liter of dissolved solids, most often salt.
