What is hyperbole? Hyperbole is an exaggeration

How can I remember that?? Think of the word hyper in hyperbole. When someone is hyper, they are CRAZY. Hyperboles are sentences that are kind of CRAZY.

How do we identify hyperboles? 1. Read the text. 2. Think about which sentence seems to be exaggerated. 3. Think about what the sentence might mean.

Let’s Try Which sentence is a hyperbole in the following paragraph? Paul Bunyan was a lumberjack. He cut down trees day after day. Paul owned a blue ox that was larger than some of the trees that he cut down.

Let’s Try Which sentence is a hyperbole in the following paragraph? Paul Bunyan was a strong man. He was so strong that he could cut down a tree in one swing of his ax. Many people asked Paul to come cut down their trees.

Here’s another Which sentence is an example of hyperbole? Rapunzel had long, beautiful hair. It was also very strong and healthy. Her hair was so long that it took a week to braid it.
