REVISION OF THE EUROJURIS STATUTES EUROJURIS GENERAL ASSEMBLY MALTA 2009 EUROJURIS GENERAL ASSEMBLY MALTA 2009 BY HANS JONKHOUT

The proposed new statutes: a. the principles b. the business case

1.Principle of the home base continuïty EJI is and shall remain an association or network having its base in Europe consisting of European national member associations. Therefore no member associations in countries outside the European continent.

2.Principle of global presence EJI as an European network has an interest in alliances with law firms, correspondent members, outside Europe in key economic extra-european centres (100 cities policy).

3. Principle of acknowledgement of varying interests EJI is a network that on the whole constitutes a heterogene network of law firms, some of which have a predominant interest in the national network, others having a predominant interest is the international aspects of the network. This is to be acknowledged and formalised.

4. Principle of diversification of EJI-services EJI as an organisation, together with the European national associations, must be able to provide tailor made service- levels for both kinds of law firms, namely those that have a predominant interest in the national network, those others that have a predominant interest in the international aspects of the network.

5.Principle of democracy and transparency All those law firms in EJI that pay contribution to EJI, be it indirectly or directly, are EJI members and shall have voting rights in the GA of EJI according to the amount of contribution, with strong voting weight preference for the home base of EJI, being the European national member associations.
