No battle was fought at Valley Forge. Yet, it was the turning point in the Revolutionary War. The Continental Army was desperately in trouble during this time. They were basically back up into a corner, they were bloody, beaten, battle-weary, and ready to give up. But that did not stop them for achieving their main goal. The Continental Army was desperately in trouble during this time. They were basically back up into a corner, they were bloody, beaten, battle-weary, and ready to give up. But that did not stop them for achieving their main goal. The main purpose of Valley Forge was to give the Continental army extra training.

 Some people at Valley Forge could not take the cold, hunger, and uncertainty any longer. But that was not the main problem at Valley Forge the main problem was smallpox was spreading rapidly. The number of soldiers that arrived at Valley Forge estimate from 11,000 to 12,000 troops..At least 2,500 people died at valley forge due to smallpox and other dease. Lack of food and clothing were also big problems at Valley Forge. The soldiers had little to eat other than fried dough at that time.

The biggest challenge they faced by far during this period, was smallpox. Almost a fourth of the Continental Army died due to this dease. Also because of this dease it made training at Valley Forge extremely hard to achieve.

Military training to differs a lot from back then. After a new recruit or officer training, service members typically go to advance training for their assigned occupational field. Advance training is a classroom environment similar to college or junior college. In fact, the American Council on Education certifies more than sixty percent of advanced training courses as college credit. Training lasts from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the complexity of the subject matter.

 Smallpox differs a lot now today also. For one thing we now have a vaccination for smallpox, which is called Dryax. The symptoms that Dryax cures from small pox include High fever, vomiting, rash, body aches, head aches, and tiredness. There are little to none cases of smallpox still in the United States today. You can no longer get smallpox by nature; the only way one can receive smallpox is though a criminal act!

 Valley Forge gave our soldiers that extra training that they need to succeed. It was the turning point for the American Revolution. It help the army succeed in so many way that are too numerous too count. During this time the army faced many challenges such as lack of food, extreme cold weather and also uncertainty of what was going to happen. But the biggest challenge they faced was not lack of food; it was not cold weather, and it was not the uncertainty of what was going to happen. The biggest challenge they faced was disease. This disease form a major block in the road for the army to train; the block in the road was smallpox!
