9.  Irony is the difference between what is and what we think is, the difference between appearance & reality.  Examples:  We train all year to play in the championship, only to get appendicitis the night before the game.  We watch a TV show where a guy goes into debt to buy an engagement ring for a girl who is cheating on him.  We watch “Disaster Date,” where the horrible date is a set-up.  A teacher says to us when we’re late once more, “You’re on time as usual.”
