Goals To give students the academic tools they need to progress to 6th grade. To provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment. To have fun while we learn. To make new friends and discover new interests.

English Language Arts Storytown Anthology: grammar,spelling,literature,and vocabulary Thinkcentral.com to access student materials on line including book and worksheets if necessary Homework: Spelling/Vocabulary/Grammar MCAS packet will begin the first week of October. Reading Logs: Students set a reading goal for the month, receive PAWS tickets as an incentive to read up to or exceed their goal.

Social Studies American History Focus on extracting information from text. First project: Explorers in October Homework: Given on Monday or Tuesday, due Wednesday or Thursday

Science Solar System Moon Phases – Moon Log Project Weather Simple Machines - K’nex unit Changing Earth Ecosystems MCAS Review and Prep Floating and Sinking Homework: Given on Monday or Tuesday, due Wednesday or Thursday, non-fiction reading materials using reading a-z

Math Go Math series Thinkcentral.com – access to math books and support materials Practice Book is a homework book, students can leave at home, complete HW and bring in or transport book back/forth to school Front page of practice book can be replaced with enrich or reteach Homework: Monday –Thursday double sided (one review page of class lesson, 6 test prep questions). Please sign if student is unable to complete (30 mins. Max)

Homework Homework is posted on the smartboard everyday. Agendas will be stamped every morning when completed Homework blog: www.homeworkteam5f.blogspot.com www.homeworkteam5f.blogspot.com All homework is due the following day, unless noted.

Agendas Parent/Guardian must check and sign agendas every night. Home/School communication tool

Absenteeism Student’s are responsible for all make up work when he/she is absent. A folder will be assembled for student when he/she is out. It will include class work as well as homework assignments. Student will have the same amount of time they were out to complete assignments. Example: If student is out for three days, he/she has three days to complete assignment.
