Graduation Rates (main campus undergraduates) The main campus four-year and six-year freshmen graduation rates are higher than for other moderately selective universities that participate in the Consortium for Student Retention Data Exchange. The actual six-year graduation rate has consistently been higher than predicted by the U. S. News America’s Best College publication. One Year Retention Rates (main campus first year students)  74.0% in 2001-2002  74.2% in 2002-2003  77.9% in 2003-2004  79.1% in 2004-2005  76.1% in 2005-2006  75.9% in 2006-2007 These rates are lower than the 82.2% retention rate achieved in 1986-1987 with students with a similar academic profile, but higher (except for the most recent year) than the retention rates for other moderately selective universities that participate in the Consortium for Student Retention Data Exchange.

Students were more likely to be retained to their second fall semester if They… (2005-2006):  Participated in the Center for Multicultural and Academic Initiatives or the President’s Leadership Academy; in any residential learning community; were not enrolled in UNIV 131 and UPAS program;  Had greater scores of social involvement, university involvement, and satisfaction with living arrangements from the New Student Transition Questionnaire; and were not identified as being at risk of attrition  Had no university-level disciplinary actions;  returned for their first spring semester;

Students were more likely to be retained to their second fall semester if they… (2005-2006):  Enrolled in a major in the College of Education and Human Development; were not in Academic Enhancement;  Enrolled in a greater number of first year classes taught by full-time non-tenure-track faculty members (instructors and lecturers)  Changed their majors a greater number of times.
