WA SECURES Training Spring 2013

Welcome As a volunteer of the Department of Health Emergency Operations Center or RSS Task Force you must be prepared to respond if the need should ever arise. Being prepared means keeping up to date. WA SECURES Training is a means of staying current in alert notification procedures.

What is WA SECURES? It is an emergency alert notification system used for distributing health alert network (HAN) messages. It is also used to call down and activate agency volunteers.

WA SECURES Update At the end of 2012 WA SECURES was updated. The new system has some great new features: -Reset your own password -Identified by groups, including divisions -Notifications by text messages -Leaves a voicemail

Reset Your Password or Retrieve Your Username Click on Forgot Username or Password?

Reset Your Password or Retrieve Your Username Enter your information for the item you are requesting.

Password Requirements Ten characters or more. Includes an uppercase, number, and special character. Cannot be a password you have used within the last ten changes.

My Profile There are four sub-tabs in the My Profile tab. They are: Identity Contact Membership Account Settings

My Profile - Identity Your information in the Identity tab can be updated by clicking on the Edit Information button.

My Profile - Contact Your information in the Contact tab can be updated by clicking on the Edit Information button. Your Secret PIN is a four digit code used when you respond to WA SECURES via the phone.

Organizations - Dashboard By clicking on the Dashboard you can view others who are in the same organization

Organizations - Dashboard Click on the Base User Link to see the members of the organization.

Phone Number 1-866-998-3678 TIP: add a special ring tone for this number so you know it’s WA SECURES calling when you’re driving or sleeping.

Responding to Emails Confirm the message by using the blue link(s) at the bottom of the email. Android and Apple smart phones can do this, but blackberry cannot.

Responding to Phone Calls -You will be asked to provide your four digit Secret PIN before the message will play only if the message contains sensitive information. -Listen to the entire message before confirming. Confirmation instructions are contained in the message.

Responding to Text Messages Text messages inform you to log into WA SECURES online or check your email to complete the confirmation process.
