Mexico’s Flag Mexico’s flag has 3 colors going vertically. Green represents hope, white represents unity, and red represents the blood of national heroes. The coat of arms in the center shows an eagle holding standing on a prickly pear cactus and holding a serpent in its talons. The leader of the Aztecs saw this in a dream and decided that the first place they saw this they would settle.

Mexico’s Independence Mexico was declared an independent nation on September 27, 1821. An Important Event in Mexico On July 11, 1945, Mexico joined the United Nations. This event gave Mexicans a sense of security and well being. They now had a group of countries as allies and could now work together instead of against other countries.

Mexican Holiday A Mexican only holiday is Cinco De Mayo. Mexicans celebrate this every fifth of may. They celebrate the unlikely victory of Mexico over France in the Battle of Puebla. Famous Geological Feature A famous geological feature in Mexico is the beautiful Sierra Madre Mountain range. Its all across Mexico and also in the USA a little.

Famous Man A famous man in Mexico’s history is President General Antonio Lopez de Sanna Anna. He was the leader of the Mexican forces in the Battle of the Alamo. He lead the Mexicans in victory but died in the battle.

Famous Woman A famous woman in Mexico’s arts history in painter Frida Kahlo. She painted many pieces that inspired Mexican’s to be creative. Her husband Diego Rivera was along side her doing the same.

Extra Event A recent accident that effected Mexico was the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. This not only damaged a beautiful ocean, but put many families in danger. Fishers that fished there now have no source of income and food supply for their family.
