Working Together for Change (WTfC) Choice Support
2
What People Wanted I choose who I want to support me. I am getting support in the way I want it and am telling people its right. I control the support I receive and who delivers it.
3
What we are already doing Involvement in recruitment Individualised Job descriptions Customer satisfaction survey Quality Checkers Reach Standards (inc. Whole Life reviews)
4
What More we Said we Would Do Create a staff database of interests to use as a match for what individuals want. Use the PCP staff matching tool. Use budgets with greater flexibility.
5
What we have achieved All staff and tenants have been interviewed and we have a list of their interests and personal preferences. The database is in the process of being built and is due to be ready for the next progress meeting. Every tenant now has an Indicative ISF
6
What we have Overachieved We agreed to undertake the staff matching tool exercise for the individuals involved in the WTfC Pilot and create an ISF for them. We have completed this for everyone we support in Nottinghamshire.
7
What we still need to do Agree the ISF (and its breakdown) with Commissioners. Finalise the database Agree with each individual how they want to spend their ISF Agree with each member of staff about the specific individual support (based on joint interests)
8
What Worked Leadership from the top of the organisation. Regular update meetings on progress. The willingness of all parties to work together and solve problems, rather than create barriers. Having time limits.
9
What could work better Having someone dedicated to achieving this, rather than an add-on to existing roles. Spending more time with individuals finding out exactly what they wanted.
10
Issues still to resolve How we monitor and record ISF spending with precision. How we deploy staff who are used to providing a collective service. Approximately 100 other problems in implementation that have not yet been thought about.
11
Conclusion Because each individual now knows how much money they have to spend on the support they want; and have access to information about staff with similar interests; they can now start to control: Choosing who I want to support me. Getting support in the way I want it and am telling people its right. Controlling the support I receive and who delivers it.
