To gain the ability to make analytical comments on the dance in terms of: Character Qualities Type and treatment of subject matter Possible meaning/interpretation Clarity of choreographic intention

Describe what you see: Movement Content – Relationships, Action, Dynamics and Space (RADS) Dancers – The amount, physique Set and Costumes – How does this add to the intention/meaning of the dance? Aural Setting – How is this used? Same structure; is it made for the dance purposefully; mutual co existence; disassociation?

What is the choreographer’s intention/meaning? What is the piece about? Is the piece Narrative, Abstract, Pure Dance? What is the style of the dance? How has the choreographer achieved this? Think about all constituent features of dance. Any themes that occur?

How successful is the piece in achieving this? Analyse! Just saying, “I like it,” or “I don’t like it!” is not acceptable.
