1 Teacher’s notes: introduction to presentation This lesson plan has been created by Kidscape trainers to support teachers in raising awareness of differences, particularly in relation to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities within a Key Stage 3 setting. Particular focus is on how these young people may be at higher risk of bullying, and how students can report bullying in their school. This presentation is part of Kidscape’s resource pack for Anti-Bullying Week 2014, that includes Key Stage 2 and 3 lesson and assembly plans in addition to awareness and fundraising activities. 9 Why might it be difficult for these students to concentrate in class? Why might this make them vulnerable to bullying? What sort of bullying do you think they might experience? Autism & Asperger’s syndrome

10 What can you do if someone is being bullied? It's the only way for the bullying to be stopped. It’s usually difficult to sort out the bullying on your own or even with the help of friends. Think seriously about telling an adult.

11 What have I learnt? Do I… Know more about special educational needs and disabilities in school? Understand the types of bullying some young people might face? Know what to do if you or one of your friends is being bullied?
