What is Web 2.0? Web-based tools that run in a browser – NO SOFTWARE INSTALLATION required Content is accessible from anywhere Easy to edit

Why are many Web 2.0 sites blocked? Security concerns because on some sites any user can edit HOWEVER, as the creator, you have the choice of how public or private these sites are. These are real world, 21 st century tools, and students are using them with or without us.

Wikis Web pages that are easy to edit Instructional uses: –Class web pages –Online textbooks –Class notes or study guides –Book discussions –E-portfolios

Blogs Online journals with one primary author and ability to comment Instructional uses: –Formative assessment (Q&A, reflective writing) –Book talks –Parent communications –Professional learning dialogue groups
