Designing Presentation Aids zPresentation aids should be as simple as possible.

Simplicity zPresent one major idea per aid. zUse short phrases. zMinimize the number of words. zUse active verb form. zRemember the 8 x 8 rule: 8 words in a line and 8 lines on a slide.

Continuity zContinuity: apply the same design to all of your aids. zColors, fonts, upper- and lowercase letters, and the use of symbols should be consistent.

Typeface Style and Font Size zTypeface: a specific style of lettering. ySerif y Sans serif zFonts: different sizes and styles of typeface.

Typeface Style and Font Size zMake sure lettering is legible. zUse a typeface that has a style consistent with your own. zUse a font that is easy to read. zAvoid using only all-capital lettering.

Color zColor can stimulate the senses or create the wrong mood. zColors have different cultural meanings.

Color zUse bold colors to emphasize important points. zKeep the background color constant. zFor typeface and graphics, use contrast colors. zUse between two and four colors.
