3. Traffic Death Statistics Approximately one-half of all teen traffic deaths on prom/graduation weekends involve alcohol.

4. Peer-approval or disapproval is an important factor in the decision to drink and drive. Three out of four high school students say they feel peer pressure to drink on prom night. Statistics

5. Nearly one out of every two students feels pressure to ride with a friend who has been drinking.

6. Statistics Nearly 30% of high school students say they have ridden with a driver who had been drinking in the past month. Two in 10 teens admit to drinking and driving themselves.

7. Statistics By their senior year, three in four teens have consumed alcohol with nearly one in three admitting to binge drinking (binge drinking = drinking more than five drinks on one occasion). Alcohol is the most used substance by teens. Statistics show that illegal underage drinkers are more likely to do poorly in school and engage in risky behaviors such as riding with a driver who has been drinking.

8. PARENTS SPEAK UP!!! A survey found that 65% of teens point to their parents as the main reason for saying no to alcohol. Teens whose parents talk with them about the dangers of alcohol and who set house rules with consequences are less likely to drink and less likely to drink and drive.
