And just because man to man defending works in a game of hockey… …it doesn’t mean it will work in a game of basketball.

And nobody knows the rules better than the official.
Knowing the rules Knowing what is and isn’t allowed in a sport helps us to develop appropriate skills, techniques and tactics. And nobody knows the rules better than the official.

Knowing the rules Not only does an official have to know the rules of a sport inside and out but they also have their own set of skills to develop, like: It’s a lot harder than it looks. positioning signalling accuracy

Practice makes perfect
Skills don’t just improve all by themselves, therefore, if you want to improve your sporting abilities, you have to practice and try new things. This means taking a look at yourself and working out: In what type of situation you need to improve What your strengths are How important the skill you are learning is What your weaknesses are If there are other activities you can get involved in that will help develop your skills How you learn best

Then you need to track your progress as you improve, if nothing else this will keep you motivated.
