Internationally-recognised qualification approved by academic and global experts, and valued by employers all around the world (European Computer Driving License) The qualification equips students with the digital skills they’ll need as they progress to further education and employment. W/C 4th July – Productivity or Spreadsheet 4. Final assessment in Year 11 Students will sit these examinations within their ICT lessons – exam conditions Opportunity to resit the tests at a later date

Christleton High School Happy, Hardworking and Courteous Preparation for the Assessment Varied delivery of teacher & student-led online activities in lessons In lessons teachers will guide students through skills exercises – shortcuts and more efficient ways of performing tasks Encourage independent learning to develop confidence Students produce portfolio of revision material Sample tests made available We encourage usage of different software skills in everyday life activities and other subjects

Christleton High School Happy, Hardworking and Courteous How Parents Can Help Check SIMS for dates of upcoming examinations. Ask them to tell you about new software & skills they have learnt and discuss how they could be applied to different subjects & real world scenarios Encourage them to apply the skills in different subjects Encourage them to be productive with their time in lessons – ask them about their progress! Don’t believe, “I’ve no work to do”. There is always something to do – practise the skills!

Christleton High School Happy, Hardworking and Courteous Esafety Internet, mobile phones, portable tablets and internet enabled gaming devices are an integral part of everyday social and working lives – great opportunities for students Keeping up to date with technology is difficult! Younger children becoming ‘tech literate’ but they still are not ‘life literate’ Advice, support & guidance 15 million websites online – all kinds of material some inappropriate Filtering software on your home computers ‘Parental controls’ software (BT, Sky, Talk Talk) Access to mobile devices – ‘You’ & Educating children are best filters Social networking – private settings! Open & honest conversations Checking history websites

Christleton High School Happy, Hardworking and Courteous Esafety To report cyberbullying, options include: Contact the service provider, for example instant messenger, social network providers, or mobile operators Built in Phone/device features – block contacts Contact your child’s school In serious cases contact your local police CEOP Button on many websites to report abuse, advise and help (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre ). Talk to your children
