Central Idea The central idea should be: A complete sentence True in every part of the world Interesting and engaging Concept driven (focus on responsibility, perspective, causation, form, change, etc) Linked to the Transdisciplinary Theme Related to the 7 topics of the Global Theme Focused on the problem without giving a solution

Central Idea Transdisciplinary Theme “Sharing the Planet” 7 topics of the Global Theme i.e Bullying - “Peace and Conflict”

Transdisciplinary Theme Sharing the Planet: An inquiry into rights and responsibilities in the struggle to share finite resources with other people and with other living things; communities and the relationships within and between them; access to equal opportunities; peace and conflict resolution.

Concepts Form (what is it like?) Responsibility (What is our responsibility?) Function (How does it work?) Causation (Why is it like it is?) Perspective (What are the points of view?) Connection (How is it connected to other things?) Reflection (How do we know?) Change (How is it changing?)

What is the problem? Remember that your problem has to be specific. The problem has to be local It has to be related to the 7 themes.

Developing the CI Think about the Transdisciplinary Theme and write down the key words. Think about the problem and write down the key words. Think about the concepts. Which are the most important to convey the MAIN IDEA (What you want people to remember). Now write a TRUE, UNIVERSAL, RELEVANT, COMPLETE Central Idea.
