DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NATURAL & ARTIFICIAL TEETH
Natural teeth are firmly rooted in the bone of the jaw while artificial dentures rest on the gum Forces exerted on the natural tooth is transmitted to the bone that supports it. Alveolar bone supporting natural teeth receives tensile strength. Complete denture moves in relation to the underlying bone during function. Forces of mastication exerted by natural teeth are greater than those exerted by artificial teeth.
11
Why Edentulous Patient Must Restore His Missing Natural Teeth
TO restore the function of mastication To improve speech and cosmetic appearance. To avoid abnormal masticator habits that lead to TMJ disorders.
