2. Slide Orientation

Landscape – wider than tall
Default orientation in PowerPoint
When orientation is changed, the orientation of every slide will be changed – all slides in a presentation must have the same orientation

4. Slide Size Different size options for different viewing options:
Default size has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is used to standard monitors (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)
For a Wide-screen monitor choose the Onscreen Show (16:9) option (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)
Aspect Ratio: The relationship of width to height in a picture, shape, or slide (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2014)

Handout Master: The master that controls the layout and elements of handouts (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)
Can change the
theme colors, but not the theme
Customize Standard Placeholders (Date, Headers, Footers, & Page Numbers)
Allows the user create a custom layout for audience handouts (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)

6. Customizing Handouts
To be able to customize handouts more, since the options in PowerPoint are limited, the user can export slides into Microsoft Word

7. Hiding Slides Allows you to omit the slide from presentation view
It does not delete the slide

8. Custom Slide Show
A group of slides in a presentation that can be shown separately from the entire presentation (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)

9. Rehearse Timings
Allows the user to time each slide so that the presentation will automatically play on its own
The user can choose to keep the timings or discard them
Timing can be adjusted after it has been recorded, by going to the Transitions ribbon, and click on the After box
Timings can be removed by going to Slide Show > Clear Timings

10. Rehearse Timings
The Rehearsal toolbar is used to view timings as you rehearse a presentation (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)
Before rehearsing your timing, you should always read the entire content of each slide and look carefully at pictures and diagrams to ensure that the audience will have enough time to view them (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)

12. Setting up a Slide Show
Presentation by speaker (Full Screen) – (default) used when the presenter is presenting to an audience, presentation is displayed using the full computer screen
Projectors are typically used to show a presentation on a projection screen (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)
Browsed by an individual (Window) – should be used if the presentation is going to be sent to others who will view it on their own computers, the title bar is displayed
Browsed at a kiosk (Full Screen)- used if the presentation is going to run without a presenter (example: looped slide show at a trade show)

Must press the Escape key in order to get out of Slide Show View

Moving to the next slide
Enter key, Spacebar, N key, Right Arrow, Page Down key
Move to the previous slide
Left arrow key, P key, Page Up key, Backspace key
To display a hidden slide during a presentation, click on Go To Slide on the shortcut menu and then click the hidden slide(John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)

15. Annotating Slides
Annotate: To write or draw on a slide during a presentation (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)
Ink: The annotations created with the pen and highlighter tools during a slide show (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)
Ink annotations can be deleted and edited using the Ink Tools Pen Ribbon
After working with presentation tools, the quickest way to restore the arrow pointer is to press the Escape key (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)

16. Packaging a presentation for delivery
Packages the presentation with a webpage
All files needed for the presentation are packaged together for transport
Can be packaged to a CD or a folder on the computer’s hard drive
If the computer that is being used to present does not have PowerPoint, PowerPoint Viewer can be used
