BAS-IT Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology (BAS-IT) –Launched Fall 2010 at UHCL. –Specifically designed for Associate Degree holders and other students from community colleges. –Prepared students for tracks in the large IT market.

UHCL BAS-IT Program Program Objectives: –To advance the career of professionals holding an associates degree in information technology or a related field. –To help information technology professionals learn about latest developments in their field. –To address the shortage of information technology workers in the UHCL service area.

BAS-IT Design Balance between theory and practices. For both AAS degree holders and other students from community colleges. Less mathematics and theory in computing than CS or CIS. More hands-on courses related to IT. Multi-disciplinary.

AAS Degree holders Courses taken in AAS degrees: –Can be used to satisfy lower level electives. –Some can be used to be transferred to satisfy selected upper level core and sub-plan requirements. –Can take selected Texas core courses at UHCL to fulfill some or all of the 12 approved designated electives.

Non AAS Degree Holders Should take Texas core requirements at community colleges. Lower level courses can be used to satisfy BAS-IT lower level electives. Some courses may be transferrable to satisfy
