We choose the subject Teen pregnancy. We would like to know more about this subject. How do they deal in the Netherlands with teen pregnancy, and how about dealing with pregnancy in Kenya? Are teen mothers accepted in Keya? And in the Netherlands? Are there institutions to get help when you are a teen mother? A lot of questions. We are doing research on the internet, contact students from Kenya to ask them more information about this subject, and we are going to talk to a real teen mother. On this way we can make the subject clear to everybody. A teen mother is a girl that give birth to a child before her 20th birthday. The Netherlands is one of the countries with the smallest number of teen mothers in the World. The reason is because there is good information about how to get pregnant, and there are lots of preventatives available. Round 2500 girls a year gets pregnant under the 20 years. Some teen mothers are able enough to deal with their pregnancy. But a lot of teen mothers –and fathers have to deal a lot more problems than only a pregnancy. The Netherlands has the lowest number of teen pregnancy from Europe. There are a few reasons for. One, and maybe the important reason, is the information to the teenagers. In the Netherlands are a lot of campaigns and organizations where the teenagers are able to ask questions about sex. In some other countries, the people didn’t give the teenagers some information about protect themselves to pregnancy and diseases. You could define this one as the important one. Further causes are: Not being informed about menstruation cycles, many teenagers haven’t safe sex because they think they wouldn’t be pregnant; Having intercourse under influence of alcohol and drugs; Having intercourse under pressure of friends (peer-pressure); Teenagers have the drift to experimenting; Bah home situation. There are a lot consequences of being a teen mother. It is kind of a fulltime job that you’ll have to fulfill very well. The experience is that all your free time is over. Your contact with friends is fading and there start financial problems. In many cases there is no contact with the father of the child, so the mother has to do it on her own. Introduction ? In the Netherlands is the number 0-5 per 1000 women, in Kenya is the number 50-99 per 1000 women. That is a big difference.
