Different languages of Africa
1.Tsonga (Zonga) – Spoken by African Bantu language spoken by the Tsonga people 2. Venda – Bantu language. Official language of South Africa. 3. Arabic 4. ChiBemba- Official language of Zambia 5. Shona – Native people of Zimbabwe speak this language. 6. ChiChewa – Spoken in Mozambique mainly. Bantu language 7. Swahili – Spoken in many different parts of Africa. Official language of Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Congo. 8. French Over 800 languages in Africa!!

Some facts… Africa is the second most populous continent on the planet billion people (behind Asia) The Sahara desert is NOT the driest desert in the world but it IS the largest! Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa (located near Kenya) Highest rate of HIV/AIDS is in Africa Worlds lowest life expectancy Largest religion is Islam AND Christianity -Atacama desert is the driest!

6 island nations are part of those 53 countries (largest being Madagascar!) It is known as the “plateau continent” Largest country: Sudan Smallest country: Seychelles Plateau – much like an upside down pie plate. The center is high and dry

What does this mean for the continent? 1. It means that most of the continent is warm all year read however there are some very wet and very dry areas.
