EWB: Applying Engineering to Human Development EWB adds value to the community High School Outreach – reached 1700 students last year Coffee to End Poverty – dozens of coffee shops participated Education Meetings – every two weeks, usually 30 to 40 people Bridging the Gap Conference – reached 150 people last year Curriculum Enhancement – ran SDS last year, APSC 150 module EWB helps African partners do what they do better, supporting them in their poverty alleviation goals. Sent 2 volunteers to Africa for $13,000 Supported a long term volunteer for $7,500

Financial Responsibilities of a Registered Charity Motivation: EWB must remain a registered charity Audited by Deloitte and Touche Overseen by Mac Macarthur, Chief Accountant for all $2 million of EWB Canada Triple redundancy in bookkeeping practice – monthly reporting, monthly statements, internal spreadsheet All transactions by cheque and require 2 signatures 93% of EWB’s funding goes directly to programs (as opposed to overhead, admin)

How Tuition Referendum Money was Used, Engineering Impacts The $6,748 were divided between three items: Bridging the Gap Conference Contributed to logistical costs for the EWB’s BTG Conference ~ $2100 National Conference Subsidy Partially covered registration fees, which totaled ~ $5200 Junior Fellowship Partially covered the $6,500 that one Junior Fellow costs
