9  4 paragraphs,  Images: Where is Minnesota map, (p.392), Picture of burned Minnesota Forest and Ecologist ( p. 393)  Words: Weather, climate  Paragraph 1: comparing weather and climate, Climate is used to predict the weather. ( DEFINITIONS)  Paragraph 2: no single change in the weather can account for global warming, it is climate that we are talking about. (CONTENT)  Paragraph 3: just talking about how CC is not new, gives Minnesota as an example. ( EXAMPLE)  Paragraph 4: Scientists warn of future crisis. ( TRANSITION) SUMMARY: This section introduces the concept of climate change by talking about a fire in a Minnesota forest. The main point of this section is to emphasize the difference between “climate” and “weather”. It is the climate which we need to look at when we talk about climate change.

Evaluator: Writes down questions and words that the group doesn’t understand, writes reflection  Read each paragraph, do text analysis, reflection  What you need to turn in: Group text analysis and evaluation ( qs, words, refl)

12  This is the homework for M/T aug. 22,23 On a sheet of paper, 1. Identify how many paragraphs 2. List what are the figures, pictures 3. Analyze for all of the paragraphs what it is all about. List the ES words found, if any. 4. Highlight which paragraphs contain content you think you need to remember and paragraphs that define words. 5. Summary

13  Using two sheets of paper, two paper clips and tape, design a free standing structure. Free-standing: Stands on its own, Unattached to the table/floor, Not supported by you.

14  Summarize in 5 sentences what you learned today.  Use the FEL to evaluate your learning
